Juha-Matti Suorsa and Niklas Eskilsson. (2014). Students’ perceptions of learning management systems. An explorative case study of upper secondary school students. (1651-4769).  During the time I studied Innovating Learning Technology module in my Master' Degree, I have read number of useful articles shared by our instructor. Although I found most of them useful and helpful, today I would focus on the article  “Students’ Perception of Learning Management Systems”  written by Suorsa and Eskillson (2014). This article identifies upper secondary school students’ perception towards the utilisation of Learning Management Systems. Case study research, which was conducted in a Swedish secondary school, explores key factors that impact students’ perception regarding LMS platforms. EdPuzzle and Genially. My personal insights

Image
In an era of developing technology, teachers' responsibility increases over integrating these technology tools into their educational purposes. In today's blog post I would like to share my experience of using EdPuzzle and Genially online platforms.  EdPuzzle To begin with, in my opinion EdPuzzle is a great tool to create educational videos with related questions so that students while watching a certain video stay focused trying to answer questions coming right during watching it. There might be a question why should educators use this type of tools if they can just play the video and ask questions at the end?  So my answer for this question is the while playing video teacher can easily lose student's attention and not receive expected results.  However, with EdPuzzle teachers can create questions with the help of AI regarding different parts of the speech in the video and place them inside the video. Basically, the video will be played and at certain parts it will be st...

"Technology has always been at the forefront of human education. From the days of carving figures on rock walls to today, when most students are equipped with several portable technological devices at any given time, technology continues to push educational capabilities to new levels. In looking at where educational methods and tools have come from to where they are going in the future, technology’s importance in the classroom is evident now more than ever."  (Richardson, 2024) Nowadays it is crucial to realise the fact that teachers must follow the trends in using technology in their classroom as traditional approaches in delivering lessons have being experienced dramatic shift to a modern and more engaging approaches. From my own experience of teaching, when I was starting my carrier as an EFL teacher, I was used to work with course books and dictionaries. I was asking my students to bring their dictionaries and search for the meaning of the words by themselves. It was very...

AI in education

Today in our lesson Innovative Learning and Teaching we have discussed the topic regarding the utilisation purposes of AI and challenges teachers face. As many of us were curious to share our experiences with each other, we provided our insights in Padlet and commented on each others works. It was a good experience to learn, how other teachers handle the challenges they face in using AI tools. Moreover, I discovered many new AI tools that I never used from my colleagues, and I am sure that I those tools will help me to have more engaging and interesting lessons. Below you can find our discussion board where all of us shared our opinion towards the use of AI in education.
